Earlier I had a posting stating that the 32 Degree beer bar located inside the M Casino has a happy hour during the week from 4pm to 7pm that was all domestics $1 .

Well, I am sorry to report that this isn’t nearly as good of a deal as I originally posted. Despite the fact that on their menu pricing the domestics are considered to be anything brewed inside the US (including micro breweries and premium US beer), the $1 drafts are limited to the standard "domestic" pisswater beers such as Bud light and Coors light.

I was very disappointed when I drove all the way out to the M in order to partake in the happy hour and taste a variety of delicious beers for cheap and found out I basically wasted my time.

I apologize to any readers that may have read my article and did the same thing as I did.

Last time I was at the M, I noticed that their Beer Bar 32 Degrees has a Happy Hour Sunday through Thursday from 4 to 7 with all domestic pints $1.

This is a better deal than you think because at 32 Degrees, "domestics" aren’t just Bud light and Coors.

If its brewed here in America, it’s a buck – including Samuel Adams and a wide selection of micro-brews – all draft and served ice cold.

Dances of Universal Peace

Meeting the first Thursday each month is a group called The Dances of Universal Peace who perform chants and dances from a variety of cultures. You need no experience or special talent to participate. The songs are taught in simple phrases, easy to learn and then combined with circle dancing. Very low key. It’s all about the spirit. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, this film phenomenon starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey is playing May 1 & 2 at 7:30 at select local movie theatres. Ticket prices are $10 to re-live the original movie “PLUS exclusive never-before-seen footage and interviews with cast members and other stakeholders.” The film directed by Emile Ardoline rocked the boat in a big way in 1977 and this reprise should be a must-see for memorable contemporary screen dancing second only to perhaps Saturday Night Fever. The Aruba Casino is the place to try swing dancing. A group gets together the 2nd and 4th Friday with a free lesson for beginners at 8pm, followed by dancing from 8:30-midnight. It’s free, but donations are appreciated.

On Sundays from 6:30p-7:30p are lessons for beginners, followed by intermediate dancers 7:30p-8:30p. First lesson is free – then $5.

The Gents of Swing with Larry Wild Wrice on drums, Bruce Harris on keys and Gary Sprewell on electric bass are moving to Wednesday nights. Larry has put together a version of the Gents of Swing with a “new” R&B – jazz sound. I say new because it’s a different mood than what you are used to from Larry, but certainly not new to him. You get the feeling that Larry is going back to his roots and I see him as very comfortable there. There is certainly a more upbeat energy. Vocals by Gary Sprewell are strong and souful; he has a voice that fills the room, with or without mike. Bruce Harris on keyboard is phenomenal. Larry has guest artists sitting in, vocalists as well as instrumentalists. The group is known as Chicago Blues Busters on Friday nights from 8pm.
