Boulder Heritage Days

Boulder Heritage Days will be held July 12-14 at Anasazi State Park, in Boulder Utah. There will be a Dutch oven cook-off, a saddle display, a silent auction, and rodeo events with songs and stories for kids. 2nd John Deere Vegas Super Barrel Horse Show

Jun 08-10 Las Vegas is host again to the John Deere Vegas Super Show (2nd Annual) for the National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA). All competitors must be members of the NBHA, but memberships will be sold at the show. The association was formed in 1992 to promote the sport of barrel racing and last year over 700 competitors showed their stuff at the the 1st Annual John Deere Vegas Super Show.

They’ve got a website that will tell you all you need to know about joining and competing, including Coggins requirements, along with their schedule for events for the year nbha.com. I wasn’t suprised to see a Canadian affiliate, but the idea of barrel racing in Italy causes pause. I didn’t know there were any cowboys there – well, outside of those who made spaghetti westerns. ElDorado Cowboy Shooting Group

This is Nevada and in case you are in any doubt about the wild west, a group called the Eldorado Cowboys Single Action Shooting Society celebrate Western cowboy action shooting the first weekend each month. They meet at the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club in Boulder City with long range action starting at 8:00 am and main match at 9:00 am. Spectators welcome. Sat May 26 is the last day for the 2007 Breeder’s Invitational Derby with Amateur Finals, Non Pro Finals and Seniors Finals for premier Cutting Horse Stallions. This event is free to the public and would certainly be an unusual way to spend Memorial Day Weekend Saturday if you are looking for an authentic Western experience.

The Derbies begin at 8am and will finish up at noon or 1pm. The Breeder’s Invitational is a non-profit promoting the Cutting Horse industry by sponsoring this major event with a very large purse.
