UNLV Performing Arts 07-08 Season

Single tickets are now on sale for this season of the UNLV Performing Arts Center. There are basically four groupings of performances:

Charles Vanda Master Series, with 7 guest performing artists or groups beginning Oct 26 and scheduled thru May 2. First performer is Denyce Graves, Mezzo-Soprano.

New York Stage & Beyond, with 7 guest performing artists or groups beginning Sep 14 thru Feb 23. First performer is Brian Stokes Mitchell.

UNLV Classical Guitar Series, with 4 guest artists or groups beginning Oct 11 thru Apr 15. First performer is Xuefei Yang.

UNLV 50th Anniversary Celebration with a Concert conducted by Itzhak Perlman on Jan 26. Hal Holbrook stars in “Mark Twain Tonight” on May 3.

Midsummer’s Harp Concert

Sun Aug 12 at 2pm is the Midsummer’s Harp Concert with Mariano Gonzalez featuring the artist’s redesigned Paraguayan harp with a truly unique sound mix of jazz, popular and semi-classical influences. Gonzalez was born and raised a cowboy in Buena Vista, Paraguay. A member of a long tradition family of harpists, he began playing at age 5. Tickets $15/$10 seniors, children/students. 2007 Las Vegas Guitar Festival

The 2007 Las Vegas Guitar Festival runs Jun 20-24 with a series of 8 performances. The Festival features classical guitar, jazz guitar and flamenco guitar and is sponsored by the International Guitar Institute. Their website is internationalguitarinstitute.com. The program includes classes (for players of all levels), workshops and concerts. Tickets for individual events as well as day passes are available. The final concert of the season for the Las Vegas Master Singers is 4 pm Sun May 20 with “A Festival of New Composers” featuring the Las Vegas premiere of “Mass for a New Millennium” by Richard Nance.
