The Stock Car & Drag Racing season has started up again at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. For full details and ticket info, go to website lvms.com or call 702-632-8213. There are four venues to experience the thrill of a variety of motorsports: Superspeedway, Bullring, The Strip, and the Dirt Track. The Speedway is located just north of the city on I-15.

Dale Earnhardt – One Night Movie Event

“DALE” – Racing into select movie theatres nationwide for a one night event Jul 19 @ 7:30 pm. This is the only Earnhardt family-approved story of racing’s largest personality. Created in 2007, the film uses authentic race footage, original interviews, home movies – and features Dale Earnhardt himself. Following the screening will be a special bonus feature of deleted scenes and interviews with fellow drivers.

Panquitch Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival

A 4 hour drive from Las Vegas to Southern Utah is the site of the Panguitch Valley Balloon Rally and Hot Air Balloon Festival Jun 22-24. 30 balloons are scheduled to take off at 6:30 am each day with a balloon glow on Main Street at dusk on Saturday with a mass ascension on Sunday morning. Also look for parades and children’s events. Tickets are adults $8/seniors $5/children under 12 free. They have pancake breakfasts, harp concerts, poker, a Harley Davidson Parade and more. SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup III

The best of SCORE desert racing will be at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Jul 19-21. SCORE International Off Road Racing, famous for the Baja 500 Race, is sponsoring this event on a special man-made “Baja” course at the Dirt Track in Las Vegas. ABA Las Vegas Nationals of BMX

The American Bicycle Association (ABA) Las Vegas Nationals of Bicycle Motocross (BMX) are Jul 13 – 15 at the South Point Events Arena with free entry. BMX Racing is the newest event added to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Top professional BMX riders from all over the world, as well as 3,000 top amateur will compete in the SouthWest Nationals with over 15,000 spectators. Look for USA’s Bubba Harris, current and 3 time ABA BMX PRO National Champion as well as the 2005 World Champion, and Alise Post current ABA BMX Woman’s PRO National Champion and 4 time ABA BMX Amateur Girls National Champion.

This is a great family sport with both male & female competitors in age ranges from 5 & under to the 56 & over cruiser class. The dirt course measures 1,100 feet with massive jumps of all shapes and sizes.

Fri: Practice from noon-6p with pre-races at 6p til approximately 8p.
Sat: Day 1 of ABA Las Vegas Nationals of BMX. Racing begins at 11a and continues until approx 6p.
Sun: Day 2 of the ABA Las Vegas Nationals of BMX. Racing begins at 8a and concludes around 4p.
