Known in the UK as "fancy dress," but more commonly called a costume party here Stateside, this quintessentially British affair will host a buffet, live band, D.J. and plenty of that special brand of humor cultivated in the Great Kingdom of Comedy. The Brits are unabashed in their ability to poke fun at themselves and the world and can be positively irreverant. Creators of Spamalot and Monty Python, this national genius for lampoon takes no prisoners. You don’t have to be British to attend this party at the Empire Ballroom on Feb 22, but you do need to get your ticket for $25 and you must be over 21. The Bunkhouse Saloon advertises itself as “Downtown’s Newest Venue for Serious Music.” They are also offering an Open Mic Comedy Night on Wednesdays at 8pm. The chance for hot local comedians to show their stuff is hosted by John Hilder. Free admittance.
